Bright Young Folk Reader's Choice Award.

The Gigspanner Big Band's album Turnstone was chosen by the readers of Bright Young Folk as the Album of the Year 2025. The members of GBB send their thanks to all who voted, and view it as a wonderful honour. This is also a fine opportunity to extend thanks to the Folkscene Radio team for also choosing Turnstone their Album of the Year, and to Fatea Magazine for shortlisting it as an Album of the Year. Added to the 'end of year honours' mentioned in our previous posts, it has been a creatively exciting and fulfilling 2025 for the Band. For us, the key to pushing ourselves creatively and keeping ourselves energised, is not to look back, but to fix on new ideas, new material, new ventures. With those goals in mind, we are looking forward to what 2026 might deliver. We look forward to having you with us on that journey. Thank you.
Recognition for 'Turnstone'.

2025 is ending on high note for the Gigspanner Big Band with their album Turnstone receiving a clutch of End of Year Honours! Folk London Magazine has named it as one of the Best Albums of 2025, and Songlines Magazine has placed it in its Top 5 UK and Irish Albums of 2025. The icing on the cake is receiving a nomination in the inaugural Folk Album Awards. The chosen album will be announced at a special award ceremony on the 17th of March 2026. The Gigspanner Big Band will be celebrating properly in April when they head back onto the road for a headline 15 date tour. All info at www.gigspanner.com/live

As an independent release, the production costs are all ours to fund, and there is a lot involved: studio production costs, artwork, pressing, publicity etc By ordering a copy in advance, you help ease the pressure of funding those costs, and will receive your copy ahead of the general release date. Our Friend Hugh Crabtree (Feast of Fiddles), kindly sourced a foundry that could make a bespoke Gig Spanner for us. We are very pleased with the end result. Cheers :)
